The Dunhill Power Dressing Edit
Dunhill’s spring/summer ’16 collection is refined, elegant and empowered – focused as it is around the intelligent reinterpretation of British sartorial classics. In other words, it is the ideal collection with which to showcase a rakish approach to power dressing this season.

'Belgravia' Navy Cool Wool Herringbone Three-Piece Suit
The three-piece suit has been synonymous with the notion of power dressing since it’s inception. This example is cut on Dunhill’s robust ‘Belgravia’ model, which enjoys all the hallmarks of a classically British suit. With a strong shoulder line, roped sleevehead, firm chest and long flared skirt, it feels thoroughly architectural – ideal for dressing to impress. The six button single-breasted waistcoat likewise adds stature and flat-fronted trousers with side-adjusters help to finish a clean, formal look. The coat’s broad peaked lapels and ticket pocket are both traditional hallmarks of the power suit and help to express Dunhill’s masculine cut – the peaked lapels add breath to the wearer’s silhouette and draw the eye up towards the firm shoulder, whilst the ticket pocket sits on the coat’s natural waistline. It’s cut in a lightweight ‘cool wool’ herringbone, perfect for the warmer months and the rich claret lining lends an aristocratic quality to the suit. It’s also worth pointing out that Dunhill’s tailoring is immaculately constructed with a canvassed chest and padded lapels, making this piece a sure-fire investment for those days when you need to pack a punch in the professional arena. £1690.00.

Powder Blue Cotton Pique Formal Shirt
The pale blue shirt is of course a wardrobe staple, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t make a statement. This shirt is cut with a slim fit and simple single cuff, but it also comes with a strong cutaway collar, which lends it just the right amount of perspective to complement Dunhill’s architectural Belgravia suit and a richly striped tie. In an exquisite two-fold cotton pique, which drapes beautifully and captures the light, this shirt is as sophisticated as it is ennobling. £160.00.

'Malmesbury’ Woven Silk Reppe Stripe Tie
A reppe stripe tie pays the perfect compliment to a power suit and this deep plum and forest green combination sits perfectly beneath our chosen suit and shirt. The bold stripe feels both masculine and confident, whilst retaining a suitably classic sensibility. As with all of Dunhill’s neckties, attention to quality is paramount, so this tie is woven in a sumptuous Mulberry silk for a particularly refined handle. £125.00.

Sky Blue Cotton Bordered Handkerchief
A clean and crisp pocket hanky is yet another hallmark of the rakish power dresser. When, in a professional environment, silk hankies run the risk of being a little too outré, a plain cotton hank is the perfect alternative, best folded with just a hint of colour peaking up from within the coat’s out-breast pocket. This design is suitably simple with its bordered edges and reflects the soft blue of the shirt. £60.00.

Striped Barathea Braces
Perhaps most associated with the ruthless bravura of the ‘Wall Street look’, bold striped braces are synonymous with those that take their tailoring seriously. A thoroughly practical addition to one’s wardrobe, nothing helps trousers to hang more cleanly, but this pair is also rather fun with its range of stripes - perfect for a bit of sartorial peacockery. The forest green stripe pairs with the reppe stripe in the necktie, the burgundy with the suit’s lining and the navy stripe of course compliments the suit itself. Wearing braces like this offers an opportunity to have a little bit of fun in an otherwise uber-formal ensemble and they have the added effect of helping one to feel ‘strapped in’ for a serious day’s work. £125.00.

'Albany’ Black Full-Grain Calkskin Folio
It goes without saying that the sharp suited professional requires a similarly sharp folio with which to conduct his business. As you might imagine with it’s uncompromising pedigree and long history of producing luxurious leather goods, Dunhill understands this perfectly. As such, the Albany folio is beguilingly contemporary and clean, easily paired with one’s business suiting. Made in Italy from supple black full-grain calfskin, with beautiful monogrammed chrome fixtures, an external slip pocket and four internal pockets (including one finished with zip-up closure), this is both a thoroughly practical and empowering piece. £650.00.

Rhodium Plated Money Clip
Finally, no power-ensemble could possibly be completed without the requisite money-clip, perfect for stashing the several wads of currency one keeps about himself to service his international jet-set lifestyle. This elegant ridged design has a touch of the art deco about it and is finished with Dunhill’s signature monogram and a sophisticated silver Rhodium plated finish. It is, moreover, further evidence (should any be required) that Dunhill is the place to go to for all your rakish power dressing requirements this season. £110.00.
